3VEL are a group orientated towards instrumental acoustic music. Their pieces are characterized by a peculiar style, which could be described as a combination of classical-type references merging whit tipically shout america colours and whit a few slight touches of fusion.
The group was costituited in 1993. After the first experiences as a trio, formed by Maurizio Neri (guitar), Massimo Vassallo (bass) and Luca Vassallo (drums), the three musicians were joined by saxofonist, percussinist, keyboard and piano players, in order to articulate in a more complete way the armonic discourse.
Since the end of 1996 Giustino Barletta as a pianist and Carlo Imparato as a percussionist became permanent member of the group.
3vel have been taking part in several musical performances and in 1994 they won the first prize in an important musical competition at the Massaua theatre of Turin whit some instrumental pieces they had composed.
At the beginning of 1997, after have sent some demo tapes, 3vel were contacted by MELLOW RECORD, a record company located in Sanremo. they then signed a contract providing, besides the publication of an album whit their own pieces, the recording of a piece to be included in a compilation meant as a tribute to the jazz and rock music of the seventies. The piece they rearreanged is takem from the Baricentro's album "Trusciant" and is called AKUA. The compilation came out in december 1997, while the album "RIFLESSIONI" recorded at Rainbow studios in Turin and ultimated in summer 1997 under the guide of the sound technician Fabrizio Argiolas came officially out at beginning of 1998.
